This movie is based on a book called the Moon and the Sun (1997) by Vonda N. McIntyre, combining both science fiction and historical romance genres. Fun fact: it won the Nebula Award for Best Novel, triumphing over Game of Thrones. :) It goes without saying, the book is highly recommended!
